Halas & Batchelor - Key-setup The Great Masters, tekening Animal Farm

Halas & Batchelor - Key-setup The Great Masters, tekening Animal Farm
Halas & Batchelor - Good - 2 Original artwork - Signed

So-called “key setups” are the Holy Grail of animation: one or multiple production cels, combined with the original hand-painted background, exactly as the picture appears in the film. This setup with devils is from the Halas & Batchelor production The Great Masters (1984), in the part about Botticelli.
The artwork of this setup contains two cels: one with the lines and one with the coloured paint. The background is also hand-painted, and the items are in the original mat in the set was bought, with Halas & Batchelor logo. In addition, the back of the artwork is signed by John Halas. The cels are stapled to the background at the bottom. Mat: 40.6 x 32.3 cm. and mat opening: 26.5 x 18.9 cm

And a production drawing of a duck from Animal Farm (1954), the first long British animated film at the time. The couple John Halas and Joy Batchelor produced and directed this film, in a style highly reminiscent of the classic Disney films. Throughout, only two voice actors were used: Gordon Heath, the narrator, and Maurice Denham, who did all voices of people and animals. Due to the strong political themes and the violence in the film, it originally received an age rating of 18 years and over from the British Board of Film Classification. Today, the film is considered suitable for viewers of all ages.
There is a tear in the bottom left of the drawing, which will not be obtrusive when carefully framed.
