Description
Optometrists set (2) - Brass - Early 20th century
France

Solid mahogany, brass plate and clasp. Purple velvet interior. Company stamp: "A. Cretes opticien, 66 rue de Rennes, Paris". The key is missing.

Complete with all its lenses. Includes a pair of test groove glasses and a test monocle.

A "Parinaud" visual acuity plate is attached to it. It was created by ophthalmologist Henri Parinaud in the 1880s-1890s, before being replaced by the famous Monoyer scale.

At the end of the 19th century, the field doctor was also the dentist and the oculist... This high-quality case was part of his instruments.
