Reliably sourced. Ceremonial Mask traditionally worn to ward off evil spirits. The Chkwe people influenced the art of many neighbouring peoples, including the Mkunda, Lovale and Mbangani tribes.
Outstanding example of a central African mask sourced in the 1970s. The wood is carved by hand and then dye is used with natural minerals. As they are carved by various tribes, each mask is unique.
