A little herbal and off dry without the nerve of some.
TIM ATKIN 94/100
La Garenne is one of those Premier Cru vineyards that have made a string of very good to exceptional wines in 2016. Jean-Marc Boillot always makes wines that are racy and crisp, with a little bit of that classic struck match quality, but this is especially so, reflecting the altitude of the site. The oak is stylishly done. 2020-28
Pale bright yellow. White peach, pear and white flowers on the nose. More open-knit than the village wine, perhaps due to the fact that there was less frost damage here. Conveys a captivating sweetness to its apple, peach and pear flavors. Savory, nicely concentrated wine with lift and grip--and a rather cool aspect.
