Decorative necklace with natural kina shell Papua-style - Indonesia
2nd half 20th century - good condition, comes with a stand

This is a very attractive ceremonial piece from Papua Oceanic style all made from natural materials. Large kina shell in the centrepiece, smaller shells, larger seeds and fish bone all on a strong macrame twisted lace design. The shell is in a dark blood red colour, looking through the light gives a deep texture, almost like tortoise.

Worn by men and women during celebrations and ceremonies to present wealth and protect.

Comes with a custom metal display stand to decorate the interior and to be kept in a safe place.

Weight is approx 131gr. Size of shell 18cm at the top width x 7.5cm middle height.

Superb condition throughout, a couple of natural stains as seen.
