FORTEZA FORTEZA, Miguel – Palma de Mallorca 1881 – 1969

Self-taught painter. In particular he was a landscape and marine art painter. He studied in Palma de Mallorca’s Escuela de Bellas Artes, under the artistic direction of Lorenzo Cerdá and Ricardo Ankerman. His speciality were the Majorcan subject-matters, marine art in particular. His palette shows the light and colour of the Mediterranean in the manner of his master Lorenzo Cerdá. He held different individual exhibitions in Palma de Mallorca, his hometown, which had a remarkable success. Later, as of 1913, he lived in Barcelona, where he held several collective exhibitions and four individual exhibitions in different galleries of the city. He also exhibited his works with a remarkable success of critic and public in the city of Reus and several Catalan cities. His works are present in multiple private collections in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
