Woodblock print by Kabukidō Enkyō (1749-1803) (reprint made under supervision of Hashiguchi Goyō) - Actor Ichikawa Yaozō III as Umeōmaru - Japan - 1915

Of Kabukidō Enkyō only seven works are known, all portraits of Kabuki actors. This print is an impressive portrait of actor Ichikawa Yaozo III as Umeomaru.

Under supervision of Hashiguchi Goyō, reprints of the 240 famous ukiyo-e woodblock prints were made and published. These prints can be recognised by the round seal.

Very good condition, see the photos (in the first photo the woodblock print looks whiter than it really is. In this photo you can see (with some effort) the blind press that was used, incl. around the eyes).
