Heavy compass in compass house - Brass - First half 20th century.
Norway.

Mountains Nautik (Norway) compass with a caradic hanging, in a brass/copper compass house.
The house contains no glass. Advantage of this is that the compass is good to read. The oil light is missing but you can still get one or it could be replaced by an electric lamp.
The magnetic compass is filled with a liquid that consists of a mixture of alcohol and distilled water to avoid frostbite. No air bubble present.

Compass: height 9,5 cm, diameter 14.5 cm
Weight almost 5 kg
