Superb original albumen print, portrait of an owner posing at the front door of his house, Tunisia.

Framed under mat with crystal protection sheet, near perfect blacks and contrast.
Titled and signed at the bottom of the image.
Label on the back with the references of the work.

Exceptional sale of 50 photograph from a private collection, all protected under mat, all in exceptional condition and protected from light to avoid damage to the photographs.

Garrigues took part in the Cagnat and Saladin archaeological mission in 1884 as a professional photographer. His studio was located on 14 avenue de la Commission, in Tunis. He was the official photographer to the Bey. He was awarded medals at the Paris Universal exhibition in 1889, at exhibitions in Tunis and Toulouse in 1898. His studio was taken over by Lehnert and Landrock in 1884, but J. Garrigues then moved to 5 avenue de France, where he continued selling his prints.
