Syria, Seleucis and Pieria. Antiochia ad Orontem. Elagabalus. A.D. 218-222. BI tetradrachm (24.93 mm, 14.74 g, 5 h). Struck A.D. 219(?).
Obv: [AVT K M A] ANTω[NЄINOC CЄB] (or similar, legend is mainly off-flan), laureate bust of Elagabalus right, drapery on left shouder.
Rev: ΔHMARC Є[Ξ VΠATOC TO B (= 2nd consulship = 219 A.D.)] (or similar, much legend off-flan - could be a different consular year), eagle standing facing, wings spread, head left, wreath in beak; in field to left and right,: D - Є; star between legs. Ref: Cf. SGICV 3096.
Rough VF, seems never to have been cleaned, thick, dark patina/encrustation over all surfaces, weakly struck obverse loses almost all of the legend, areas of incipient BD on obverse.
