Hein Kray is a well-known comic artist, illustrator and visual artist.
His first comic is “Per Vliegmachine de Wereld Rond”, which was published in De Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant and De Nieuwe Drenste Courant. Kray made a total of nine comics for these regional Dutch newspapers, including “Pikkie en Goudglansje” (1936), “Baas Blaas, de Tielse Kruidenier” (1938-40), “Davina's Eekhoorntje” (1946) and “Koos de Fantast” (1951). All four of these comics were written by Kray's wife, To van Thiel.
A few comics by Kray also appeared in De Standaard, including “Met Pippie Tater en Simpie Goochem op Stap” (text by Ad Goede, 1932-33), “De Broertjes Brand” (text by A.C. Biemond, 1936) and this “Vakantie van Kees Knip” (text Nel v/d Vljs, 1940).
