OLIVÉ CABRÉ, Ceferino Reus – 1907 - 1995

At an early age he entered as an apprentice in a printing office of his hometown, and later in a decorator’s workshop, where he learnt to paint with oil and where he carried out his first watercolour painting. He studied in the Escuela Municipal de Dibujo. In 1926 he moved to Barcelona, where he worked with the decorator Antonio Fuster, who showed him the watercolour technique, and where he perfected his studies in the Escuela de Bellas Artes, with Félix Mestres. Little by little, he reaffirmed himself as a great watercolourist, and he took part in collective exhibitions organised by the “Agrupació d’Acuarelistas de Catalunya”. In 1942, he was awarded with the National Prize, and in the following one he was awarded with the “Fortuny” medal, first medal of the International Salon of London and in the Exposición Nacional de Ferrocarriles.
