BARBE, André François Barbe (1936-2014) was a cartoonist of humour and eroticism and one of the greatest French cartoonists of the 20th century.
He was also a comic book author and a press cartoonist for major French and European newspapers (L’Expansion, Le Magazine Littéraire, Les Échos, Punch (United Kingdom), Die Zeit (Germany), Play Boy (USA) etc...).
Tender and poetic eroticism, very delicate.
He worked, among others, at 'le Rire', 'Pilote', 'Hara-Kiri', 'Charlie-Hebdo’,’l’Echo des Savanes’.
Author of many books.
Has also illustrated Don Juan, the full text of Da Ponte, the Mozart opera (La Découverte (1991), Le Cantique des Cantiques (La musardine 2000 etc...).
Member of the French collective of artists ‘Humoristes Associés’ with Fred, Blachon, Bridenne, Trez, Napo, Avoine, Sabatier, Serre, Siné etc...
