Sculpture - paint, Wood - Baoulé - Ivory Coast

Description
Sculpture - paint, Wood - Baoulé - Ivory Coast
2nd half 20th century - Vintage - used with visible signs of wear

This colon portrays a westernised African, with European clothing.

Yet the face is carved according to the Baoulé beauty ideal, and it has the scarification. He also wears a pair of shorts and no shoes. This is probably an ancestor figurine, in the form of a colon, as it sometimes occurred in the years after WORLD WAR II.
