Putto / Amor Reigen, Sculpture - Zamac

Description
Putto / Amor Reigen, Sculpture - Zamac
France - 1920-1949

This large and heavy sculpture depicts a putto/cupid, who is a young man carrying a brass plate. A bag with arrows lies on the floor. The scene looks like a round dance, but allows for multiple interpretations.
Zamak alloy - two colours (bronze coloured and blackened), smooth, glossy patina. In good condition with minor chipping. A stable fixture cemented in plaster on the underside.

I cannot tell whether the plate once served as a lamp holder or a fountain. I purchased the sculpture as it is shown here. 4-5 apples or oranges or 1 kilo of grapes can fit on the plate.

The sculpture comes from an antique store in Vienna (bankruptcy goods) and is originally from France. No signature
