Large woodblock by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) (Yu-Yu-Do Re-print) - 'Holiday of Cherry Blossoms at Naka-no-chô in the Yoshiwara (Yoshiwara Naka-no-chô sakura no monbi), from the series "Famous Places in Edo" (Edo meisho)".

Date: circa 1970.

Technique: woodblock print.
Publisher: Hoeidö and Senkakudö (combined seal).
Seals: Hoeidö and Senkakudö Takemuchi Magohachi and Tsuru-ya Kiemon (circa 1830s-1840s) 保永堂と仙鶴堂.

Description: townscape. Courtesans and attendants parading along Nakanocho, Yoshiwara's main street, at the height of cherry-blossom season.

Dimensions: horizontal ôban: 25.5 x 38.3 cm.

The woodblock print is in perfect condition. It has never been exposed to direct light so the colours are impressive. Please see the photos as part of description.
