This carpet was knotted in the city of Nain in central Persia, near Isfahan. The carpet is usually very light with a cream-coloured or deep blue ground colour and with a large medallion in the centre. The high knot density and first class materials result in high quality carpets. They are produced in the most common sizes and these carpets are among the most beautiful in the world and very popular among collectors.
Nain carpets usually have a cotton base with a very soft type of wool. Quality is not only measured in knots per square meter, which is approx 300 000 on average, but also in LA. LA is a Farsi term referring to the number of threads that form each edge. A Nain with a LA of 9 is considered a carpet of good quality (yet the lowest quality of real Nains), while a LA of 4 is the best. LA is related to knots per square metre, because it allows the knotting to go faster.

This carpet was exported from Iran before 1/1/2015.
