LOT OF EXCEPTION:
This lot of 5 miniatures is composed, on the one hand, of 3 of the first 5 models issued in scale 1/18 by Bburago (‘Diamonds’ series released 40 years ago) and, on the other hand, 2 of the first 10 models in scale 1/18 of the series ‘Special Collection’ which replaced the series Diamonds in 1998, so 20 years ago. All these cars were acquired at their release, i.e. end of the 1970s for the first 3 (Rolls-Royce, Mercedes and Bugatti) and late 1990s for the last 2 (Alfa Romeo and Lancia).
Concerning the models ‘super vintage’ of more than 40 years ago, i.e. the Rolls, the Mercedes and the Bugatti, they were exposed in the showcase 20 years away from light, dust and heat. They were then put away in a closed box to go out now (20 years later) in order to be photographed to be offered for sale on Catawiki. Although without their original boxes, they are in ‘perfect’ condition (partially exposed but NEVER used).
Concerning the models ‘vintage’ of 20 years ago, i.e. Alfa Romeo and Lancia, they are never out of their box until these days to be photographed. These 2 models are therefore INTACT. Their original box is hardly faded despite their 20 years of storage.
Specifically, it is, in the order of the photos, the following cars:
-ROLLS ROYCE Camargue 1975 - Reference Bburago 3001 (issued in 1977).
It is simply the first miniature car, Bburago issued in scale 1/18 (1/22 in fact, according to the inscription under the chassis (see photo 27)). It is the first model of the series ‘Diamonds’, ancestor of the ‘Special Collection’ series. This model of 42 years old is like new, except for 2 small barely visible stains on the right door and the roof (see photos 18 and 19).
-MERCEDES BENZ SSKL of 1931 - Reference Bburago 3002 (released in 1978).
It's the second model in scale 1/18 by Bburago. This miniature of 41 years old is intact, with the exception of the mascot that is broken (see photo 32). It was retrieved from a plastic bag (see photos 33 and 34). A touch of glue will be enough to put it back correctly.
-BUGATTI Type 59 of 1934 - Reference Bburago 3005 (issued in 1979). It's the fifth model in scale 1/18 by Bburago. This miniature is intact despite its 40 years of existence.
-ALFA ROMEO 2300 Spider 1932 - Reference Bburago 3008 (issued in 1998). It is the 8th model in the Special Collection series released the same year to replace the Diamonds series. The car is intact (never out of the box). Its original box is hardly faded (transparent top sheet partially torn on 7 cm). It is accompanied by a small catalogue of time (new condition) of 80 pages (model Bburago 1998-1999).
-LANCIA Aurelia B 24 Spider of 1955 - Reference Bburago 3010 (issued in 1999). 10th model of the Special Collection series, this miniature is also intact (never out of the box). Its original box is like new. It is accompanied by a small catalogue (new condition) of 96 pages (models Bburago 1999) celebrating 25 years of the brand!
Please note that some bluish reflections that can appear on the pictures are betraying the colour of the used smartphone.
Conclusion: a lot of collector given the condition of the models considering their age.
For purist of Bburago in scale 1/18.
