Tea tablet, China, 20th century, exact age unknown to me.
Detailed tea tablet with Chinese text and an image of a pagoda and tea plants.
Dimensions: 23.5 X 18.5 cm, 2 cm thick
The tablet consists of fine tea leaves.
Tea bricks have been made in ancient China since the Ming dynasty, circa 600 years ago.
These blocks were used for making tea or as currency.
Because the tea blocks were also used as currency, the back is divided in blocks, which made it easier to break the tablet in pieces.
It is in good condition considering the fragility!
Some chips and small pieces missing from the corner (see photos).
Will be shipped well-packaged and by registered post.
