Antique jewelry object group: brooch

Country of origin: Netherlands
Period: ca. 1955
Material: Silver on top and pin of 14K yellow gold (see explanation on silver on gold).
Technique: The rose cuts are set on foil. This is a special technique that was used to bring the lustre of the diamonds to its best quality.
Extra information: In Friesland (the most northern part of the Netherlands), like in many parts of the Netherlands, people wore jewelry specific to their region (and sometimes also specific to their marital status and/or religion - depending on the area they lived).
Diamonds: One big and seven smaller rose cut diamonds . We do not have the weight of the diamonds which is normal in our trade when it comes to rose cuts.
Birthstones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April.
Hallmarks: Hallmark used between 1919 and 1957 for Johan Roosendaal, a well-know goldsmith, known for his jewelry in the 19th Century Dutch style. And a Dutch silver hallmark for silver used since 1953. Therefore this piece has been made between 1953 and 1957.
