Domaine du Vieux Lazaret is owned by the Quiot family, which has been living in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape for nearley 300 years. It owes its name to a 17th Century hospital, which is still the firm'head office. The cellars, in the heart of the village, have been built around vats that were dug out of the rock and are still in use.
The many plots situated on all the "terroirs" of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the appellation's thirteen grape varieties, rolled pebbles, mistral and low rainfall all conspire to give this wine its fruitiness, strength ang great complexity.
Goes perfectly with charcuterie, game, red and white meat and duck. Serve at around 18 Cellius

Lighter from aging at the edge but opaque in the center of the pour. An inviting nose of raspberry and blackberry. Rolls very smoothly into the mouth, with ample tannin and acidity that are well integrated and rounded. Excellent concentration with a long and dry finish. Aging well and gracefully, with no signs of premature oxidation. Fully drinkable now and any time in the next 5 years.
