1966 Château De Lamouroux , Margaux Cru Bourgeois Supérieur
Vintage 1966 Score : 17/20
Top wine from Margaux, from a good wine year!
Château de Lamouroux is a domain that always made heavy, robust dark wines and that had a highly praised vineyard, praised in such a way that the vineyard was bought by château Rauzan Ségla, to make their 2nd Segla wine with it ...
So the château Lamouroux can be seen as the precursor of the Segla and is therefore a beautiful collection bottle for the real enthusiasts.
The fact that there is such a history on the château Lamouroux, and the fact that it is no longer made under this name, also determines its high value on the wine market ...
Vintage description 1966 Bordeaux:
An outstanding vintage. Ideal weather conditions and a dry and sunny September produced dense and colourful wines. There was a lot of enthusiasm for these wines when they came out, but they did not live up to expectations. Certain crus have lost their fruitiness. They have evolved very little and today have proved to be very tannic and austere. However, there are some superb wines such as Latour, Léoville Las-Cases and la Mission Haut-Brion that simply ooze charm and balance. The sweet wines are of average quality due to the unfavourable weather conditions that prevented the development of noble rot.
