AOC Margaux is the only communal appellation of Haut-Médoc to bear the name of a first grand cru classé, Château Margaux. It extends to the south of the Médoc on 1,400 ha and produces an average of 63,000 hl of red wines per year. With the exception of a small production of white wine under the Bordeaux AOC produced by Château Margaux (White Pavilion).

The appellation selects the best soils and possesses some of the most beautiful rumps of all Bordeaux. It is one of the most prestigious appellations of Médoc and also one of the largest. Margaux encompasses five communes: Arsac, Cantenac, Labarde, Margaux and Soussans

The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot make fine, elegant wines with a harmonious, full-bodied mouth, supported by a fine weave of delicate and tasty tannins. The finish is all in harmony and elegance. The Margaux is a "feminine" wine, which keeps and evolves throughout its life

Haut Medoc

The Haut-Médoc AOC is located south of the Médoc appellation. The Haut-Médoc appellation produces only red wines (220,000 hl / year) out of 4,800 ha including 6 renowned municipal appellations: Margaux, Moulis, Listrac, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe.

On gravel and clay-limestone soils, the dominant varietal is Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot, with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

These are wines with high aging potential. Young, the wines of Haut-Médoc have a strong tannic side: some wines can not be tasted for several years. They then offer a supple and fleshy development and give wines with complex aromatic bouquets of red fruits. An aging in oak barrels brings aromas of roasting and leather.

Informations on Château Arnauton:
This 25-hectare vineyard planted on the southern slopes of the Fronsac mound has changed hands several times. This wine, which owes almost everything to the merlot, immediately impresses with its intense and deep color, to which a complex nose responds, combining blackberry, black cherry and very ripe blackcurrant with an elegant oakiness reminiscent of vanilla. and roasting (grilled hazelnut). His mouth surprises with its fat and tannins perfectly extracted, dense and silky. If the wood is very marked, the long finish is marked by a pleasant return of black fruits.

1x 1982 Château Peyrat Premiers-côtes-de-bordeaux

- Eye: The color of the Premiers-côtes-de-bordeaux is intense, dark, of a dark bordeaux drawing on the black.

- Nose: In their youth, these wines are marked by notes of red fruits, black berries (black currants) and spices. As you age, scents become more complex and more intense. Notes of cooked plums appear, as well as tertiary aromas of venison. Toast, coffee, vanilla and cinnamon are the hallmark of wood.

- Palate: Young people, the Premiers-côtes-de-bordeaux, already very pleasant, are tannic and fruity. They round up quickly and improve with aging. After three to five years, they gain in sweetness and flexibility.
