1/10 ounce of fine gold
Produced in 1986 for the first time, the 1/10 ounce gold Australian Nugget (also known as the Kangaroo) is currently the only legal tender which changes its design each year and limits its annual mintage.
Every year, each coin gets a new design.
The new designs are introduced annually for numismatic tests and these designs are then used to mint investment coins the next year.
The design of the Gold Nugget changed in 1989 to make room for Australia's most iconic animal, the kangaroo.
For this reason, the coin is called both the Australian Nugget and the 'Kangaroo'.
The original is 'the Australian nugget'.
Available also in 1 ounce gold, 1/2 ounce and 1/4 ounce.
Each coin is shipped in a protective capsule.
Front: The obverse of this coin depicts a bust of Queen Elizabeth II, whose design changed in 1990 to depict a portrait of the mature queen.
Here appears "Elizabeth II" at the top followed by "Australia" as well as the face value of 15 dollars.
Reverse: Title: Australian kangaroo, 1/10 ounce 9999 gold
Description: you can see side-on two kangaroos bounding on a background of Australian dessert with a round full moon in the sky.
