Croton named this model "WASP" for the USAAF Auxiliary, Women Airforce Service Pilots, formed Q1 1943. For more details about AAFES/Crotons, Google: 'CROTON - Accurator Medicus Field Watch - AR 90102 - Men - Circa 1951 The Korean War' and read History & Notes.
Space doesn't allow me to fully describe this Wasp's background, so examine the photos carefully. They show its condition and how it is put together. Not many come to the market, former owners' families cherishing these watches which were produced in limited numbers (circa 1,500). Remember that most US military watches had to be purchased by individuals, generally through AAFES (Army & Airforce Exchange Service).
There are two photos of WASP pilots, Shirley Slade and Elizabeth Gardner from the book, "Silver Wings".
This is a rare WW2 period watch. Its AS 1194 17 jewel sweep second movement with Incabloc has been serviced within the last two years and keeps time. Google 'AS 1194 ranfft' for information.
The WASP will be carefully wrapped (see my Feedback and bid with confidence!) and shipped via Colissimo Insured/Signed For.
