Hille Polyprop chairs Robin Day; these original British classics were designed by Robin Day for Hille International in 1962.
This vintage chair is a modest presence in the room, is lightweight, very durable, easy to clean, stackable and connectible.
The Polyprop chair was launched after three years of research and development. Polypropylene was invented in 1954, but this material was never before used in the furniture industry.
Robin Day and Hille were investigating the possibilities to create a chair using this new, durable and cost-efficient material.
This research was conducted in collaboration with the British petrochemical company Shell.
Considering the age of these chairs, they are still in good vintage condition with normal signs of wear. Source: the book '1000 chairs' by Taschen, page 387.
