2 bottles of Viña Real Reserve 1995, state of conservation Perfect.
Elaboration: Grape coming in its entirety from vineyards located in the Rioja Alavesa. Cold alcoholic fermentation and subsequent malolactic fermentation in new French and American oak barrels. You rake every 3 months to stabilize and clean the wine naturally. It is subjected to 36 months of aging in oak barrels of 225 liters of second year. Clarified with egg whites. A minimum of 3 years of storage in the drafts of the warehouse before being marketed.
Tasting notes: Reddish ruby color medium-high, dark, shiny. Grenadian and amber reflections, bright. Small, orange trim, a lot of thickness.
Completely open, powerful, fruity, very ripe and somewhat reduced when opening the bottle. Elegant, with a toasted quality background, creamy, spicy. It is shaping up to give an absolutely classic profile that reminds us like in a few current vintages to the old Viña Real. Notes of tanned leathers, cabinetry, fruit raisins (figs, carob, prunes), werther's candies and a very mild smoke that brings English tobacco, pipe Virginia, cigar cellar. Everything is very fine, delicate, on which sits a remarkable amount of red fruits reduced, just liquor.
The palate is generous, thick, alive, energetic, with an entrance marked by freshness and a marked acidity. It has a spicy, almost medicinal-bitter leave to which the spicy and a marked toasted add. Set very alive, tasty, to finish rounded. Powerful tannins, dry, marked, to tame.
