TERRIFIC antique okimono of Bijin and child in palanquin on the shoulders of 2 carriers
Very remarkable work of art the carving performed by HIRONARI, the folds of kimono and carriers dress are very realistic, they fall in a highly natural and fluid way making waves full of movement.
The Bijin (beautiful woman) has magnificent Japanese kimono and obi with fine clothes fully carved, she wear an elaborate hairdo.
The child with beautiful face expressions carving, it seems one finger missing, very charming expression
also, the palanquin in braided straw on the top and even under the chair (what a fabulous carving), the foot of carrier, charming expression carriers faces, thinking about the comfort of the traveler with attached fans
This Sculpture has lovely natural old patina and is mounted on ivory stand,
The condition is very good for the age, some damage showing with orange arrow : trace of glue on one corner of palanquin and small crack on the top
fantastic okimono signed in red lacquer cartouche on the base HIRONARI, made during Meiji period 1868-1912
