In Chinese iconography the earth is represented by a square and heaven is represented by a circle. Hence, the large globular body of such vases provides an ideal reference to heaven.
This vase is nicely decorated with stylized flower balls and "Anbaxian", the Eight Daoist Emblems in contrasting famille rose enamels on white porcelain ground. The decoration enclosed by a band of stylized lotus petals around the base and a ruyi border on the neck.
