African Baule Wooden Mask Collected in the Region of Bouaké in Ivory Coast

African Baule hunter mask. This mask represents the wife of a hunter. It was used for marriage ceremonies and at the return of hunters after successful hunting.

This mask is representative of Baule art, with a beautiful balance between the forms and the volumes, and finely carved details.
