A beautiful and large work by the Groninger Ploeg painter Karel Arkema and member of the Groninger Ploeg. It depicts a portrait of a beautiful young woman without clothes and therefore a nude.
Framed in a white wooden contemporary frame.
Authentic and hand-signed by him and dated 1953.
A copy of the artist's photo is included.

Karel Arkema (1901-1964) was born in Appingedam.
After the crafts school he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen.

Karel originally painted realistic-expressionistic but was influenced by the expressionism of ‘De Ploeg’. Also the work of his wife showed this clearly. Karel was constantly searching for his own style. In his last years he also sought the non-figurative and abstract style.
