(Vlagtwedde 1879 - Hilversum 1952)

Painter, illustrator. After completing the three-year HBS in Zaandam, he worked as a house painter at the Verkade factories. In 1898 he went on foot to the Academy of Antwerp, a good and cheap art school, to realize his ideal to become a painter. Idserda received painting lessons from the history and genre painter Juliaan de Vriendt. In 1911 he married the Belgian Coba van der Lee, a painter of still lives; they had two sons, also artists.

During his wandering life between Bruges, 't Gooi and Drenthe, he mainly painted after nature. His peasant interiors around Laren were in great demand there. In the second decade of the 20th century, Meppel had developed into a city of painters. The association “Kunst en Vriendschap” was founded there: it organised a major exhibition every year. They went out together to paint after nature. Idserda arrived in this climate. He made friends with Anthony Keizer and Stien Eelsingh. He lived in an old ship, “La Lutte”. In addition to landscapes in oil paint, Idserda made many chalk drawings in Drenthe, which reflect his expressive style well.
