Stool (1) - Wood - Akan - Ghana

Description
Stool (1) - Wood - Akan - Ghana
2nd half 20th century - Fair condition, used with visible signs of wear

Nice and rare Asante Bottle Stool (Pantu Dwa)

The shape of the centre colon of the stool refers to the old Henkes or Bokma Dutch Schnapps Gin or 'Genever' bottle. Dutch Schnaps is still being used as a valuable gift and in ceremonies where one spills some of the liquor on the floor to honour the spirits and ancestors. These ceremonies also known as " Pouring libation" make the people connect, not only to the spirits but to everything that surrounds them.
