Carpet, Senneh - Carpet - 216 cm - 151 cm - Wool on Cotton - Early 20th century

Description
Carpet, Senneh - Carpet - 216 cm - 151 cm - Wool on Cotton - Early 20th century
Iran

An example of the remarkably fine Senneh carpets, with a regional Gol-i-Bulbul pattern, of a quality, which has only been produced sporadically since the 19th century. This pattern is a used piece, which served as a tapestry. This piece is made with a skilful use of colour that is well-balanced with its strict structure, and delightfully lively in its carefully calculated spontaneity.
