Rare Kazakh; Chaili, a village close to the Moghan region.
Pronounciation: Tsjaili.
Early 20th century, antique rug.
These rugs have very traditional patterns.
The 4, sometimes 3 octagons are characteristic for these rugs.

Most Chaili rugs have an indigo dark blue base.
More rare is black/brown or red, like this one.
Beautiful high pile, bright and fresh colours.
The red that hints at purple is cochineal.
Very beautiful condition with full and long pile.
Almost magical totems.
