Good condition, see description - 25×31×44 cm

a very large 19th century tea chest made in China. such tea chests were made for the European market to trade tea as an export product, mainly to England. The tea chest was manufactured and traded during the English Regency period 1825-1835. The tea chest is made of a light coniferous wood type, painted black and decorated wonderfully with refined gold paintings. there is also a painting of a plant on the inside, the handles are made of brass. The inside is made of lead, the knob to open the lead box is not there and the hinge to keep the box open is missing. Other than that, the box has some signs of wear on the corners and edges and the gold leaf print has faded somewhat in places.
