The carpets by the Ersari Saryken are considered to be the best pieces from Turkmenistan.
The tribe merged with the Ersari Yomutch in the early 20th century.
This torba dates from that time, circa 1910–1920.
Very finely and skilfully knotted.
Typical characteristics: Everything, in fact. The pattern, the pink silk has to be in it,
the white lines should be made of cotton, the rest is wool.
These are collected in the US in particular.
It was considered chic to collect Turkmen carpets there as early as the 1930s.
