Goli can be performed as an entertaining dance or at funerals of important people. The Wan borrowed it after 1900. Kple Kple mask has a round shape topped by two horns. The male mask is red, the female one is black (sometimes vice versa in some villages). If often appears in pairs in Goli dance and is followed by a pair of Helicopter Zoomorphic masks (Goli Glen), a pair of horned masks (Kpan Pre) and finally two masks with a male head showing braided hairstyles on the top (Kpan). Although each pair of masks includes both male and female elements, the first two pairs are considered to have a predominantly male personality. Goli masks are larger and heavier than the other Baule masks.
Very nice patina of use.
Bright red colour
