Wall mirror - Baroque - walnut with behind-glass or "verre églomisé" painted panels - 17th century

Baroque mirror with walnut frame and behind-glass or "verre églomisé" painted panels of birds among foliage and retaining the original mercury mirror glass.

On the back there are several inscription in ink, one with a date indication of 1649, which does correspond with the style of this mirror. Also 2 old collector's labels one of which reads : "Flemish 17th Century Reverse glass painting gold backing. Walnut frame. 000x37 Ex:.."

Antwerp. Mid-17th century.

In "as found" condition, untouched & unrestored .. but very beautiful in its own right.
