Lodderein box - Silver - Belgium - early 18th century
Excellent condition - barely used with minimal signs of aging & wear

A rare Lodderein box in gilded silver , engraved on the lid with a cock and inscription : "QUAND LE COQ CHANTERA MON AMOUR FINIRA" (translation: "When the cock crows my love will end"). The sides are engraved with typical Régence style scrollwork and scallops.

Unmarked, but by it's style attributable to the city of Liège (Belgium), Régence period, circa 1715-25.

Weight: 27 grammes.
