Galvanoplasty:
A technique mainly applied around 1900.
A plaster sculpture would be dipped in a bath of electrolysis with a metal layer, usually coper.
The whole looks like a bronze sculpture’.

A typical bust of the fixed model of Jef Lambeaux, (signature see shoulder) that he immortalised in different versions, sizes and materials.

Jef Lambeaux was born in Antwerp in 1852. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp as sculptor. He was also active in Paris and Italy. His most famous work is the Brabo Fountain (1887) in Antwerp and his monumental statues decorate a lot of parks and buildings. He died in Brussels in 1908.
