Cornelis Albertus Johannes Schermer was a famous Hague horse paint with a very extensive oeuvre. His subjects ranged from stable interiors and horse markets to elegant hunting companies and horse racing.
Schermer lived and worked mainly in the Hague, where he studied at the Academy
Schermer was a pupil of J.E.J. van den Berg, Corn. Kruseman and Joseph Moerenhout.
He usually signed his works with: C. Schermer.
Musea: The Hague municipal museum and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
