Maurice Schelck (Aalst, 1906 - Ghent, 1978) was a Flemish painter.
Schelck has been a leading figure in the artists' village of Sint-Martens-Latem since 1960, when he came to settle there from Aalst.
He painted rural scenes, village figures, portraits and still lifes, and also ventured to abstracted landscapes.
Was friends with Leon De Smet, Hubert M, Jules De Sutter, Sheila Dallas, Fons Roggeman, Luc-Peter Crombé, Joe van Rossem, Vic Dela Vega, Eduard De Clercq, Lea Vk.
Together with Hubert Malfait and Vic Dooms, Schelck is considered to be one of the last followers of the Latem School. With art critic Jan Dhaese and historian Hugo Van den Abeele founded S "the painters of the round table", a group of artists of diverse backgrounds (Painters, sculptors, philosophers, poets, authors) that met every Sunday morning in the local village pub ' Saint Martin ' and which was the basis of the current "Latemse art circle".
S is buried in the cemetery in Sint-Martens-Latem Artists.
The canvas has been glued during the painting process to a panel (marouflage).
