Kanosuke Distillery 嘉之助蒸餾所 located in the south of mainland Japan called Kagoshima. Kagoshima is famous for it’s clean and pure food and water supply to the Japanese people. A brisk aroma and rich sweetness in taste makes it hard to tell that it has only been matured in American Virgin Oak for merely 8 months. Angel share is about 6% to 8% yearly so aging is considered very efficient here. Distribution is very limited and is strictly within Japan at the moment.
It's been aged for eight months in American white oak ex-shochu casks, those casks that used to contain Komasa Syuzo's Mellow Kozuru brand of aged rice shochu fill with sea breeze smells,finished it into a sweet and gorgeous new bone.Kagoshima New born is a single malt new bone made by cascading whiskey raw liquor distilled in February 2018.
Nose: A basket of tropical fruits also with prunes, salted dates, and maple bread. There's a hint of berry as well -- mostly blackcurrant and raspberry.
Palate: Caramel apples dipped in honey, served with a side of pear. Later on there's a lightly toasted cinnamon and licorice coming through, making this a wonderful choice for the winter season. Smooth and silky.
Finish: The berries make a return, and there's kiwi, met with vanilla and caramel. Anise and more herbal spiciness towards the end.
