Gaston Coppens studied sculpture at the Ecole Boulle and was passionate about drawing, particularly pastel drawing, allowing a sculptural modelling: relief, light and harmony.
Several galleries dedicated personal exhibitions to him, among which the prestigious Bernheim-Jeune gallery (historical gallery of the Impressionists: Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse), but also the Galerie Royale and the Galerie Pittoresque. The museum of Boulogne-Billancourt, France has a collection of his works.
