Michel Seuphor was a Belgian artist of the abstract art from before the second world war. In addition to his painting and carpet designs he wrote some standard works on abstract art and a monumental study of the work of Mondriaan. His in-depth and thorough knowledge of the abstract art gets a precipitation in two books: “Dictionnaire de la peinture abstraite” (1957) and “La peinture abstraite, sa génèse, son expansion” (1962) in which he cites all sorts of conversations with artists and gallery people during his many visits to Europe and America.
