DECCA "TRENCH" model 1 from 1925 in good condition. This type of gramophone uses "Bowl-in-lid" amplification by which sound is reflected forward from the lid. The deep lid contains a black metal bowl, "Dulciflex", which displays sound with a remarkable volume.
This design is called the "Trench" because during the 1st World War British troops were shipped with gramophones based on this design for use in the trenches.
The engine is "Swiss" made. Decca has never made their own engines or sound boxes, the Crescendo Soundbox is also made in Switzerland.
Dimensions: - 8" tall, 10.75" deep, 9.5" wide.
