Holosteric aneroid barometer - Walnut

Description
Holosteric aneroid barometer - Walnut
Germany - First half 20th century

Beautiful walnut holosteric aneroid barometer.

The aneroid barometer was invented in the forties of the nineteenth century as an alternative to the fragile mercury barometer. On the aneroid barometer, which is made up of metal parts, also called holosteric or metal barometer, use is made of the elastic effects and properties of thin metal membranes. If such membrane is secured to the edges, it will be distorted when the pressure on both sides differs in size.

A beautiful feature of this type of barometer is being able to see partially inside.

The barometer is in good used condition with small scratches on the glass, and the diameter is 19 cm.

The photos are part of, and supplementary to, the description and condition of the offered object.
