Wonderful pair of Lions of St. Mark in Istrian marble, entirely hand carved and used as ornaments, paperweights or simple decorative items. They come from a noble palace in the area of Venice.

Known as the ‘Dormiente’ (‘Sleeper’) and the ‘Vigilante (‘Watcher’), they are copies of those crafted by Canova for the funerary monument to Pope Clement XIII located in St. Peter, Rome.
High artistic quality and excellent workmanship, marble grain is spectacular, rare and fine.
Very good condition, completely intact.
