Three beautiful maps:
The Province of Gelderland
Dutch New Guinea (rare)
Publisher: Dijkstra Zeist. ( 1941-1950)
The school posters of Bakker and Rusch have conquered a permanent place both in the history of geography education and in the visual memory of a whole generation of pupils.
In the 1940s and ‘50s 'educational renewal' was a keyword, also the field geography was renewed, and in doing so the new geography method for the elementary school by Bakker and Rusch (introduced in 1941) played a major role. The maps for the first time in the history of the Dutch School Cartography contain a large number of small, attractive illustrations, 'pictures', as symbols for various economic activities. Children are highly visually oriented, Bakker and Rusch stated.
